“Stoning for adultery. Amputations for theft. Death for apostates. And second-class status for Christians and Jews. This is life under Sharia law, the Islamic system practiced in countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Great Britain. Yes, Great Britain. There are reportedly some 85 Sharia courts now operating there, with Islamic judges ruling on cases ranging from financial to marital disputes among British Muslims. ‘We went into some proceedings and there were a couple of Islamic judges sitting up above the rest,’ said Alan Craig, who recently stepped down as leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance party. ... Craig is a former city councilor in East London, home to several Sharia courts where women face open discrimination. ‘A woman's witness value is half that of a man,’ Craig told CBN News. ‘So [the courts] will tend, therefore, to take the man's position in a divorce.’ ... Muslim women in Great Britain often face intimidation within their communities to settle things the Sharia way. ... The courts have popped up in several British cities with large Muslim populations, including Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester, and London. The Tower Hamlets section of East London is arguably the epicenter of the Sharia movement in Great Britain. The impoverished borough has been dubbed ‘The Islamic Republic of Tower Hamlets.’ Its first elected mayor is a Muslim who critics say has ties to extremist groups. His office declined CBN News's request for an interview.”

"When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was."
Around Christmastime it is common to hear some authority trying to explain the star that the wise men followed to find the infant Jesus. It is commonly explained as a comet or the conjunction of two or more planets or stars. The question is, are these and similar theories possible?
About all you need to evaluate these theories are a Bible and a map of the Holy Land. Matthew 2:1 tells us that the wise men came from east of the Holy Land. Verses 2 and 9 further tell us that these men had seen the star indicating His birth in the eastern sky. They had not followed the star to Jerusalem, as often depicted in Christmas cards. We learn from Matthew 2:9 that when they arrived in Jerusalem, the star they had seen in the eastern sky moved to lead them to the Christ Child.
By this time Mary, Joseph and the Child may already have returned to Nazareth, or they may still have been in Bethlehem. No matter which was the case, the movement of the star was now from the eastern sky to either the northern or the southern sky. That is very un-starlike. In fact, the movement of the star was even more un-starlike in that it directed them to a specific house! No comet, conjunction or other natural object of the night sky will do that.
These wise men from the East were accustomed to the sights of the night sky. They could easily identify the unusual. This star was clearly created by God to announce the birth of the Savior to the world He came to save!
Painting: "Adoration of the Magi" by Florentine painter Giotto di Bondone (1267–1337), who depicted the star as a comet.

For the unbiased, God gives enough evidence to prove that the Bible is divinely inspired, but enough is left unproven and enough questions remain to give the willful unbeliever rope to hang himself. As the renowned Harvard law professor Simon Greenleaf stated: ‘Christianity does not profess to convince the perverse and head-strong, to bring irresistible evidence to the daring and profane, to vanquish the proud scorner, and afford evidences from which the careless and perverse cannot possibly escape. This might go to destroy man’s responsibility. All that Christianity professes, is to propose such evidences as may satisfy the meek, the tractable, the candid, the serious inquirer’ (The Testimony of the Evangelists Examined by the Rules of Evidence). In His story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16, Jesus warned that no amount of evidence will convince a committed skeptic. The Word of God itself is the ultimate evidence, and men are required to believe it. A committed skeptic would not be convinced if he saw Noah’s ark with his own eyes and if Noah himself rose from the dead to tell the story. “Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead” (Luke 16:27-31).

"That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."
Language is an important part of culture. As the theory of evolution was being developed, evolutionists were quite successful in convincing people that language, education and culture separated humans, whom they described as animals, from other animals. After all, they reasoned, we are evolutionarily much more advanced than animals, and that's why we have language and traditions.
We know from the Bible's description of humans and animals that evolutionists are wrong on all counts. Additional support for this comes as naturalists learn that animals not only have language but also have a learned culture, which they teach to the next generation.
A study of white crowned sparrows in the San Francisco Bay area shows that the sparrows' songs from one area to another are very much alike, but they have different dialects. Sparrows from opposite ends of the same town may even have variations in their songs. Researchers have found that young sparrows experiment with a variety of sounds – just as human babies babble. But they learn their song in the dialect of the adults around them. Likewise, each dialect group has its own unique variations on the mating ritual, to which only birds from the same dialect group respond. Dozens of birds are known to have dialects.
We now know that many birds learn their language from their parents and culture, just as do human infants. Language and culture are clearly not the result of our evolutionary progress but the gift of our Creator!
