Bible prophecy indicates that Israel will continue to be under the heel of the Gentile powers until she repents during the time of Jacob’s Trouble. This era, called “the Times of the Gentiles,” began when Jerusalem was destroyed and Solomon’s Temple razed by the Babylonian armies in 586 BC. Israel returned to the land 70 years later and rebuilt the Second Temple but it has never been in full control of its own affairs since then, for the simple reason that Israel has never repented of her sin against God. Israel has been under the power of Persia, Greece, Egypt, Rome, the Ottoman Empire, and England, and even since the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948 and in spite of her impressive military prowess and technological advances, Israel remains at the beck and call of Gentile nations.
In a recent UN vote, the world lined up in support of upgrading “the Palestinian Authority” to a “non-member observer state.” This is a major move toward the recognition of the mythical “Palestinians” as a national entity. 138 countries voted in favor (including France, Turkey, Russia, and China), with 9 opposed, and 41 abstaining. Of major nations, only Canada joined America in opposing the vote, but both nations followed up in condemning Israel’s announcement of building more houses in Jerusalem and the West Bank on her own territory! The move came after the Palestinians maliciously rained hundreds of rockets on Israel territory in a massive terrorist assault designed to destroy property and murder Jews.
I wonder how Canada would respond to such a thing? I know what America could do, even under Obama. And the U.N. vote came after Egyptian President Mahmoud Abbas preached “a defamatory and venomous speech that was full of mendacious propaganda against Israel” (Benjamin Netanyahu, “Palestinian Vote,” International Herald Tribune, Dec. 1-2, 2012). And it came after Hamas affirmed that it does not recognize Israel’s right to exist in any form.
The Muslim nations and the Arabs, many of whom are sons of Ishmael, are not interested in a “two state solution.” They still hate Isaac and are only interested in wiping Israel off the map, as we have documented in the illustrated Israel: Past, Present, and Future, which is available in print and eBook editions from www.wayoflife.org. “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zec. 12:3).
