The 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation was celebrated this week by a flotilla of 1,000 boats sailing the River Thames and other events during a four-day extravaganza. The 86-year-old monarch has ruled in the midst of a sea of change which has brought us closer to the catching away of the saints, the rise of the antichrist, and the return of Christ to sit on His rightful throne. The signs of the times are evident everywhere. There is the apostasy represented by the Queen’s own Anglican Church and which was evident in Tuesday’s service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was a grand “form of godliness” that denies the power of the true Gospel and the infallible Bible (2 Tim. 3:5). There is the sensual “me first” pop culture, which was represented by Monday’s concert outside Buckingham Palace featuring Paul McCartney and Elton John (2 Tim. 3:1-4). There is the explosion of technology which made it possible for people in every nation to observe the week’s events and which will make it possible for the Christ-rejecting world to watch events transpire in Jerusalem as prophesied in Revelation 11. There is the homosexual rights campaign that has spread throughout the Queen’s empire. (Sodom is mentioned four times in the New Testament in the context of the end times.) There is tiny Israel back in her land but surrounded by enemies and abiding in steadfast unbelief and looking for a messiah of her own imagination just as she did 2,000 years ago.
