In his speech before the United Nations on September 25, U.S. President Barack Obama made the following amazing statement: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam...” This would mean that Obama believes that Mohammed was a true prophet of God and that Islam is the truth and thus unreprovable, which is exactly what Muslims believe. Yet in the same speech, Obama claimed to be a Christian and condemned expressions of hatred toward Jesus and the desecration of churches. This is typical liberal “doublethink,” which is “the act of simultaneously accepting two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct.” It was described in George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. It is also practiced by the emerging church, as we have documented in the book What Is the Emerging Church? If Mohammed was a true prophet of God, then the Jesus revealed in the Bible was wrong, because He claimed to be the Son of God who came to die for man’s sins, both of which claims Mohammed denied in the strongest terms. When the antichrist steps on the scene, he will pretend to respect all religions and will be acclaimed as the great interfaith peace maker, but soon his true character will be on display and he will exalt himself above religions. “And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done” (Daniel 11:36).
