The following is an excerpt from the free newly-enlarged eBook “Ideas for Evangelism,” available from the Way of Life web site: “Prayer is a necessary part of evangelism, and one great tool is an evangelistic prayer list. Each church member should be encouraged to keep such a list. It contains the names of lost people that I am praying for regularly and trying to reach for Christ. If I am not willing to pray for the person and try to reach him, I should not add him or her to the list. The prayer list naturally begins with relatives, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. But the idea is to add to the list as I make new contacts with unbelievers during my daily activities, through tract distribution, etc. A smart phone is a good place to keep the list, so it is readily accessible and easily modified. I keep my personal list in iPhone Notes.
SUGGESTIONS FOR USING THE LIST: Pray for the people on the list every day or at least regularly and ask God to open their hearts and to grant me wisdom in reaching them. Call the people from time to time to tell them I am praying and to ask if they have any special needs that I can pray for. Invite the people on the list to gospel meetings. It is not enough to pray for people’s salvation. They must hear the gospel and come to understand it. Personally visit those who are showing interest. If I meet a person from out of town and add them to my list, I try to find a church in that area that will make contact with the individual. There is a directory of churches at the Way of Life web site that can be helpful in this regard.
